This Week’s Big Christian Word!
In Romans chapter 5:1-5, Paul spells out for us briefly the reward and benefit of justification or, as he puts it, “being justified by faith” (verse 1).
Definition: Justification means to set something right, or to declare righteous.
So, In a nutshell, justification means being “put right with God”. Paul points out that being justified by faith we have:
- peace with God
- access to God…. and
- a hope of the glory of God
Which makes it possible for us to endure tribulations and trials.
How does justification equip us to go through trouble and persecution? Think about it:
Jesus Christ, the sinless, perfect sacrifice, died in our place, taking the punishment we deserve for our sins. In turn, sinners who believe in and accept Christ as their Savior are justified by God the Father. This legal act means Christ’s righteousness is imputed, or credited to believers. Jesus transfers His nature into you!
God’s plan of salvation includes forgiveness, which means taking a believer’s sins away. Justification means adding Christ’s perfect righteousness to believers.
So when we know we are right with God we have peace because we know three things:
- We can boldly and confidently go to God anytime!
- God can and will work through and for us.
- That Heaven and eternity with God is our ultimate destination and reward!
When you have this knowledge, you have the confidence and Holy Spirit power to endure anything! AND when chaos is in everything or everyone around you….you have the peace of God – even in the storm.
So go ahead, follower of Christ…..live today like God intended you to live…..JUSTIFIED!
