WINNING AT LIVING!
Ok, so I admit it! I’m a bit of a “homer” when it comes to the Arkansas Razorbacks (my apologies to all the fans that may have somewhat misguided loyalties to other teams like LSU, the Sooners and Texas A&M?). So when I think about a winning sports team–it’s all about the Hogs (no bringing up last season’s record please)!
All joking aside, if you are a follower of Christ, you are already on THE Winning Team! Jesus is already victorious over satan, death, hell and the grave! The only thing left is for us to be a great “team-player” and to allow HIM to lead us to victory.
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 NKJV)
The legendary Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry once said that he had three priorities in life: God, family, and football—in that order. “Until you get your priorities straight you will never be truly successful at anything.”
The writer of Proverbs tells us to seek wisdom and then shares that “all wisdom comes from God”. So if we put God first, everything else will fall into its proper place.
How do we do this? We humble ourselves and admit that God is the leader and we are His disciples or “followers”. He is the coach and we are the players. He calls the plays in our lives and we execute them.
Instead of asking Him to bless what we’re doing, we should do what he is blessing. Instead of trying to “negotiate” with God about the destination and route for our lives, let’s be true followers of Christ and simply GO where, when and how He wants us to!
Life is not a game; it is serious business and the stakes are eternally high. You must start with the fundamentals. Friends, there is a God and we’re not Him!
While watching college football I notice that even though the offense is already in their stance ready to execute a play, that often times the entire team will rise up and look toward their sideline because the coach may just want to change the play. They trust him to get the team into the right play and they believe that if they just execute his plays they will win the game!
Life is winnable no matter what satan brings against you. Just listen for God’s instructions and execute His plan for your life- You Will be victorious and will not just the “Play of the Day” but the Play of Eternity”!
The fear (reverence) of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7 NKJV)
